Chicago Public Schools
Commemorating 31st Anniversary of Peace Day in Chicago
September 21, 2010 is the United Nations (U.N.) International Day of Peace. That day, all Chicago Public Schools are being asked to participate in the citywide celebration of Peace Day (see letter above). This is an important step toward building a Culture of Peace in Chicago. This year we are drawing inspiration from the work of Dr. Jane Goodall, U.N. Messenger of Peace and Honorary Co-Chair of our committee. Dr. Goodall advocates peace for animals, peace for people and peace for the environment.

Or, create your own Peace Day activity! Peace-themed music, art, poetry, dance, drama, sports, games, clean-up projects, environmental programs…the possibilities are endless. All schools that engage in a Peace Day activity are asked to send a brief summary and photos to: info@buildthepeace.org.
